ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON CONSTRUCTION WORKS IN OSUN STATE
ABSTRACT
The study assessed the impact of COVID-19 on construction works in
Osun State. The study was conducted through literature review, a wellstructured
questionnaire and interview. The study was conducted in Osun
State, Nigeria. The thematic content analysis method was used to analyze
the data received from the interview. The study revealed that cost overrun
is the mostly rated impact of the pandemic on construction projects in
Osun State with an importance index of 0.99.The second is finance with
an importance index of 0.98 and the third mostly rated impact is time
overrun with an importance index of 0.99. Interruption of contractual
terms (legal issues), Suspension of projects and Socioeconomics impacts
are the three least rated impacts with importance indices of 0.60, 0.58,
0.55 respectively.The study concluded that Covid-19 has impacted the
construction works in Osun State.
